HOLE 1
This is a straight forward Par 4 to get the round started. With a bunker on the left side of the fairway, a tee shot that favors the right side is ideal. An elevated green requires a second shot played to the correct yardage. A fairly simple green to read, a solid two putt for a par is a good way to start your round.
The green of hole # 1 is fairly flat. A shot to the middle of the green is a player’s best bet. This green slopes generally from back to front, but there are little subtleties so a player must pay attention.

HOLE 2
The second hole at Briarwood is another medium length Par 4. A good tee shot will leave a short iron or wedge into the green. Players must be aware of the bunker behind the green. This is definitely a good birdie opportunity!
The green is fairly shallow with a bit of a false front. There is a ridge that runs down the middle from front to back so make sure you are on the correct side to have an easy birdie chance.

The course’s first Par 3 is a short to mid iron off the tee. A quality shot to the middle of the green is the play here. Be careful of pin hunting when the hole location is all the way in the back.
This green sits at an angle from the tee and is relatively narrow. There is also a raised table top in the back of the green so watch the slope. The miss is definitely to the left side.

This is the first of two long Par 4s on the course. Definitely take driver off the tee and favor the right side. Rolling hills run the length of the fairway. Pay attention to the pin placement to get the ball on the correct level of the green.

HOLE 5
This second of two long Par 4s is the number 1 handicap hole. An undulated fairway makes a flat lie difficult to come by. A tee shot on the left side of the fairway gives the player a good view of the green. The green is very deep so double check your pin placement sheet before selecting your club.
This green is very deceptive! Be sure to double check your line and pay close attention to the edges of the green to give you some hints.

The first Par 5 of the course is a slight dogleg to the right. Strategically placed fairway bunkers off the tee and in the lay up area will test your accuracy. The green is protected by a front bunker and sloping sides. A shot on the correct portion of the green can leave you with a makeable birdie putt.
A front bunker will catch many balls when going for the green in two. Be sure to look for subtle breaks on this green.

For long hitters a drive down the left side is a must to avoid the lake on the right. A front and back bunker make distance control crucial coming into the green. A mid to short iron into the green can give you a decent attempt for a birdie to start the back nine.
Two ridges help to really define this green. Reading the break well is key to a good one or two putt.

STRATEGY! This short Par 4 will tease the long hitters. A good drive over the stream will leave a short pitch to the green, but with plenty of trouble lurking an errant drive could cost a player a stroke. Laying up could be the way to go.
